In line with its mission to advance inclusive, transformative, and sustainable education, José Rizal University (JRU) launched TechTeach: Discovery Week, an outreach initiative supporting Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
While actively driven by the AnimaCSS and SOCI student clubs, the project reflects JRU’s broader institutional commitment to empowering underserved learners and promoting digital literacy in partnership with Barangay Addition Hills.
Conducted every Saturday from March 23 to April 20, 2024, in JRU’s learning spaces, the program offered hands-on workshops and professional training sessions in essential digital tools such as Canva and Microsoft Office. By combining technical instruction with humanistic and student-centered approaches, the initiative enhanced not only digital competency but also academic performance, reading, and comprehension.
Faculty, student leaders, and community participants collaborated to transform classrooms into hubs of inclusive, community-based learning. Apprenticeship learners and trainees gained access to resources and teaching strategies otherwise unavailable to them, while JRU facilitators enriched their own internship and service-learning experiences.
Through TechTeach: Discovery Week, JRU underscored its role as an educational leader dedicated to bridging the digital divide, cultivating social responsibility, and ensuring that no learner is left behind in the digital age.
