Last November 19, 2023, history was made as the Lady Chef Bombers from the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management secured a remarkable 2nd place (Silver Award) in the prestigious College Category of Cake Wars at Cake Fiesta Manila 2023.
This achievement marks the first time that José Rizal University has been represented in the competitive Cake Wars Competition College Category, adding a sweet triumph to the university’s legacy.
Guided by the skilled leadership of Coach Roseshell Suico, the talented trio of Ms. Sharmaine Ashley Arielle Gerona, Ms. Wishrey Faith Guleng, and Ms. Tiffany Jersi Villalobos showcased their prowess in the challenging field of fondant cake design. Their debut in the competition on November 16, 2023, during Day 1 of Cake Fiesta Manila 2023, saw them face off against experienced competitors, highlighting the resilience and determination of these novice bakers.
Despite being novices to the art of fondant cake design, the Lady Chef Bombers fearlessly applied the skills acquired during their intensive month-long training. Their dedication and passion for the craft shone through as they went head-to-head with seasoned participants, proving that enthusiasm and a willingness to learn can be powerful assets in any competition.
This triumphant journey not only brought glory to the Lady Chef Bombers themselves but also bestowed honor upon their department and the entire José Rizal University.
