To enhance the Solid Waste Management Institutional Outreach,
the National Service Training Program (NSTP) coordinator, Mr. Jose Andres Serrano, of the College of Education, Arts, and Sciences (EAS) and the Community Development Office (CDO) have worked together once again in launching the Clean-up Drive on March 1, 2025 at the Magalona Covered Court. This event collaborates with three partner barangays: Brgy. Bagong Silang, Brgy. Daang Bakal, and Brgy. Harapin ang Bukas beginning March 1 to May 3.
Holding onto their cleaning materials, the NSTP students were divided into sections and groups and immediately sent to the designated places of these barangays after the ceremony, together with their NSTP instructors and barangay tanod. All the solid wastes for the clean-up drive, including the segregated plastics and glasses, will be turned over to the barangays for proper disposal.
Barangay officials led by Daang Bakal chair, Mr. Richard Bassig, Harapin ang Bukas chair Mr. Ricky Ogbac, and representatives from Bagong Silang joined Dean Don Vicente Real of EAS, Ms. Carissa Enteria, on behalf of Director Hiromi Lascano, and Ms. Andrei Lorence Bredonia of CDO, NSTP instructors, and NSTP students to show that JRU and its partner communities are committed to taking care of the environment, contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Climate Action, Life below Water and Partnership for the Goals.
