José Rizal University has proudly secured its position as one of the selected NCR University cohorts to establish a cutting-edge Technopreneurship Hub. This significant achievement reflects the collective effort and collaboration of the entire JRU community. Prizes include a P100K development fund and exclusive mentorship sessions facilitated by the esteemed PhilDev Foundation, a non-profit innovation company in partnership with Wells Fargo, a renowned financial services company.
The initiative, known as the Technopreneurship Center Empowerment for Universities in the Philippines (TechUP), comprised two pivotal rounds of evaluation. In the first round, Project Manager Dean Engr. Liza Reyes led the successful completion of a comprehensive questionnaire, showcasing JRU’s unwavering commitment to innovation and meeting documentary requirements. The second round featured a panel interview, in which VP Mr. Ted U. Calaguas and Engr. Sally Estacio adeptly excelled.
The core team, guided by VP Dr. Miguel M. Carpio, VP Mrs. Norma M. Montalvo, BAA Dean Dr. Allan Galvez, and BAA Department Chair Ms. Daisy Dela Cruz, demonstrated exceptional leadership. The team, composed of Engr. Estacio (CSE), Department Chair Ms. Sharmaine Maglapuz (CSE), Dr. Johnn Teope (BAA), and Dr. Stella May Cabeliza (ADO), received valuable coaching from President Dr. Vincent K. Fabella.
Under the astute guidance of Project Manager Dean Reyes, the team participated in a series of mentorship sessions, including Design Thinking and Technopreneurship Bootcamp, Gender-Responsive Incubation, Incubator Management Workshop and Benchmarking Activity, Impact Management Workshop, and regular mentorships and check-ins. The program will also feature an inter-university students’ innovation challenge and the dissemination of these insightful mentorship sessions.
José Rizal University stands alongside other esteemed institutions, namely FEU Institute of Technology, Mapua University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Sta. Mesa, and STI College Global City, in championing the #TechUP movement and fostering innovation through the #PhilDevFoundation.
