New Campus in Lipa to Open in 2020
José Rizal University, an educational institution established in 1919 and that has been in Mandaluyong City since 1950, and has been ranked as one of the top universities in Metro Manila, with top-rate facilities and quality education which has earned Autonomous Status and Institutional Accreditation, with Level III and IV Accreditation in many of its programs.
With its tradition of excellence and in time for celebration of its 100th year, JRU Ventures to position itself in the Southern Luzon area by establishing a campus, the JRU Lipa in 2020. JRU-Lipa shall be a small premier campus with strong industry linkages, offering programs which have been identified by potential employers as those with strong likelihood of quick employment immediately after completion, and which shall contribute significantly to the growth and development of the nation and the world.
Jose Rizal University (JRU)-Lipa will be located in President J.P. Laurel Highway, Lipa City, approximately in a one hectare area. Jose P. Laurel Highway is a primary highway linking Lipa to northern towns and cities (Malvar, Tanauan City, Santo Tomas, and Calamba City) and southern Batangas (San Jose and Batangas City). JRU-Lipa is accessible by public transportation and conveniently beside commercial establishments. It is found 80 kilometers south of Metro Manila, 1 hour from NAIA via SLEX and STAR Toll way.
Among the programs to be offered in JRU-Lipa are Business, Hospitality, Liberal Arts and Information Technology Courses. JRU-Lipa eventually plans to offer graduate studies in Business Administration and Public Administration. JRU LIpa shall focus on career aspirations of tertiary level students and their parents, to be employed productively immediately after graduation. With the strong industry links that JRU brings, students shall have job immersions and relevant training even during their academic program, thus having positive work values and useful job skills and inculcated in them, without having to undergo transitional training on the job.
This new campus will house classrooms, laboratories, administrative offices, a library, gymnasium, and other student facilities surrounded by abundant greenery originally found in the site. A network of covered walkways, punctuated by study nodes and social areas, will connect all the facilities.
Careful consideration in the orientation and placement of buildings will allow for breezeways and shaded activity areas. The design will also employ several green features such as rainwater collectors, light shelves for indirect indoor lighting, and deep overhangs for protection from the elements.
