In partnership with JRU, Barangay Harapin ang Bukas has opened its doors for a reading center through the initiative of the Elementary School Division (ESD) in coordination with the Community Development Office (CDO). The ribbon-cutting ceremony, spearheaded by Kap. Ricky Ogbac and Ms. Josephine Culala, ESD principal, was held on September 27 at the barangay hall’s 3rd floor.
ESD demonstrated its unwavering commitment to “Reach out a Friend” through various outreach activities such as donating elementary and secondary textbooks, children’s books, and puzzle mats to support the educational development of the children in Barangay Harapin ang Bukas as part of JRU’s Sustainable Integrated Community Advancement Program (SICAP).
The event also featured a short but meaningful program themed, “Tara, Basa! Handog na Pag-asa sa Bawat Bata” with the Young Rizalians Ukulele Ensemble (YRUE) leading the doxology, followed by short messages from Mrs. Carissa Enteria on behalf of Student Development and Community Development Director Hiromi Lascano, Kap. Ricky Ogbac, and Ms. Josephine Culala.
Excitement filled the room as the ribbon was cut, and the children eagerly grabbed a book and settled onto the mats, instantly immersing themselves in stories and learning.
