On November 15, the vibrant atmosphere of the JRU Centennial Building Auditorium buzzed with enthusiasm as it played host to a significant institutional outreach activity titled “Empowered Choices: A Voter Registration Guide to the 2025 Philippine Midterm Elections.” This event aimed to enlighten participants about the crucial aspects of leadership and the importance of informed voting, featuring a lineup of distinguished alumni speakers who brought their wealth of experience and insights.
The program was graced by Atty. Edgar Feliciano Aringay (HS Batch 1997), Atty. Leo Berenguer (HS Batch 1988), and Kap. Richie Bassig (ES 1990), each contributing to a rich tapestry of knowledge surrounding electoral participation.
Following Aringay’s presentation, Kap. Richie Bassig took to the stage to share his inspiring journey into politics. He passionately recounted his experiences serving the community of Brgy. Daang Bakal. His heartfelt message underscored that dedication and a genuine desire to serve are paramount, regardless of one’s educational background, including being an alumnus of JRU Elementary School.
As a lawyer at the Senate, Atty. Leo Berenguer, offered a detailed exposition on the legislative process, guiding the audience through the intricate steps required for a Senate bill to become law. His clear and engaging explanations left participants with a deeper understanding of how their voices can influence legislation.
