Scholarships and Financial Assistance
This scholarship is given to incoming Junior High School, Senior High School and College students who graduated in the TOP TEN of their entire batch. The batch should consist of at least 100 graduating students in the Elementary and Junior High School; and at least 80 graduating students in the Senior High School in any CHED recognized and accredited schools.
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE LA PLUMA SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS:
- 100% discount on Tuition Fees
- 100% discount on all Miscellaneous Fees
- 100% reimbursement of the cost of books
- Inclusion in “Academic Scholars’ Mentoring Program”
- Monthly Stipend (for incoming “Valedictorians” only).
RENEWAL OF THIS TYPE OF SCHOLARSHIP IS BASED ON THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
- La Pluma Scholars for Junior High School and Senior High School who wish to continue their scholarship should maintain a Grade Point Average of 95%
- La Pluma Scholars for College who wish to continue their scholarship should maintain a Grade Point Average of 1.25
All incoming freshmen in the JRU Junior High School, Senior High School and College Divisions from any school may also apply for the JRU Academic Scholarships by taking the JRU Scholarship Qualifying Examination. Interested students must apply immediately after graduating from elementary school, Junior high school or Senior High School to be eligible. The following are the JRU Academic Scholarship benefits:

- 100% discount on Tuition Fees
- 20% discount on all Miscellaneous Fees
ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP B
- 100% discount on Tuition Fees
José Rizal University Alumni Association (JRUAA) maintains and funds a number of scholarships every year for students who wish to pursue and obtain a bachelor’s degree at José Rizal University. Qualified JRUAA scholars receive 100% discount on tuition and fees. For special cases, scholars may also be given a monthly stipend and book allowance.
College Academic Scholarship Revised Process
REQUIREMENTS:
For Academic Scholarship A, the grantees must have:
- Obtained a Final Grade Point Average (Final GPA) of 1.50 with no grade lower than 1.75 in all courses/subjects enrolled in the previous semester.
- Carried a *Regular Load in the program of study in the previous semester.
For Academic Scholarship B, the grantees must have:
- Obtained a Final Grade Point Average (Final GPA) of 1.75 with no grade lower than 2.00 in all courses/subjects enrolled in the previous semester.
- Carried a *Regular Load in the program of study in the previous semester.
Note A failure in any course/subject since freshman year is a disqualification for an Academic Scholarship.
*Regular Load refers to enrolment following the sequence of courses in the effective and approved curriculum in the program of study. For program shifters and transferees please contact GTO for details.
Please note: The University has a limited number of slots for Academic A and B. In the event that there are more students who are qualified than the available slots, the University will prioritize based on the GPA.
SELECTION PROCESS:
- The University will identify the qualified students based on the scholarship requirements for Academic A and B.
- The GTO will inform the qualified students and provide the scholarship forms through their JRU Official email not later than one week before the enrollment.
- Qualified students need to accomplish the following forms at least three days before their designated enrolment date
- Application Form (F-GTO-024)
- Contract of Undertaking (F-GTO-025)
- Scholarship Form (F-ACC-001)
- Qualified students must submit the accomplished forms to Rizalian Connect with a subject title: CO Academic Scholarship. It is mandatory to follow this step to ensure proper tagging of scholarships.
- GTO shall forward the accomplished Scholarship Form (F-ACC-001) to the Student Account Office.
- A student who has been approved under Academic Scholarship A or B but fails to enroll one week before the start of classes during the applicable semester or term automatically forfeits the scholarship grant. The student upon returning must wait for at least a semester or term and thereafter undergo the same qualification process for a scholarship grant.
- As a general statement, the University reserves the right to review, discontinue, adjust scholarship parameters at any time as it deems required for all scholarships and financial assistance mentioned above.
