Rufina De Guzman Francia is currently the Chairperson of Business Technology Department of José Rizal University Junior High School Division. A consistent Valedictorian during her elementary and high school days, she finished her Bachelor of Science in Business Education and Master in Educational Management from Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Sta. Mesa, Manila.
In addition, she is a holder of National Certificate III and Trainer’s Methodology in Bookkeeping from the Technical Education And Skills Development Authority. (TESDA)
Aside from teaching, Mrs. Francia is also busy with different civic and community organizations. She is the current Corporate Secretary of G1CC (Gomega 1 Condominium Corporation) and was the President of the Board of Trustees in 2013 – 2014.
She also served as Department of Education, K to 12 program Book Evaluator, and currently JRU – ISO Internal Auditor.
Mrs.Francia is a member of Philippine Schools, Universities and College Computer Education System Society Incorporated (PSUCCESS).
Learning Management Systems (LMS) allow instructors and students to share instructional materials, make class announcements, submit and return course assignments, and communicate with each other online. It creates great opportunities for teachers to present and deliver their lessons where learning can be assured and enhanced. The selected Junior High School teachers underwent series of training-workshop where they were trained in using Canvas. The use of Canvas as an online tool for teachers is part of their faculty development program and personal advancement.
The aims of this study include to investigate how teachers could utilize Canvas in the classroom setting, to assess the level of proficiency of the teachers in using Canvas as a teaching platform, and to assess the usefulness of the training program in relation to international business. The study showed the improvement on teachers’ proficiency in using canvas before and after entering the training program. It also exhibited the positive attitude of teachers towards the adaptation of canvas as a teaching tool to their students where they could explore and navigate the canvas interface.
