JRU Memorandum No. 2020-12: Adjustment in Examination Schedules due to the March 10-14, 2020 class cancellation

To      :  All Officers, Faculty, Non-Teaching Personnel and, Students

  1. Over the weekend, there have been significant developments with regard to COVID-19. This prompted the announcement of a Code Red Sub-level 1 Alert and the declaration by President Rodrigo Duterte of the State of Public Health Emergency.  Malacañang subsequently announced the cancellation of classes in all levels in Metro Manila from March 10-14, 2020.
  2. Revised exam schedules. In view of the above, please be informed of the following changes in the final examination schedules:

Detailed revised final examination schedules (containing specific course test times and dates) can be seen on Canvas, the JRU online platform.

  • Other College concerns
    • Theses. For College students, who have not defended their theses, please contact your respective department chairs through Canvas at any time before Friday, March 13, 2020.
    • Integrated courses. For pre- and mock boards, please contact your respective department chairs.  In any case, these pre- and mock boards will be scheduled after final examination.
  • Graduate School. Classes for the third trimester will continue on March 16, 2020.  Graduate faculty should contact their respective students to cover lessons during the period March 10-14, 2020.
  • Preparation for examinations. We would like to encourage all students to take advantage of this opportunity to prepare for the final examinations. During this time, deans, principals, faculty and staff will be available to answer any questions related to these exams.
  • COVID-19 related updates. Since the situation with COVID-19 changes frequently, we will be posting updates on Canvas. Please make sure that your Canvas account is active and that you can access it (email the Institute for Technology-Based Learning at if you need assistance). We will also be posting on and our other social networking sites.
  • Activities after final examinations.  We will continue to update you with the remaining academic activities in the next few days as we end the School Year 2019-2020. Among others, we are coordinating with the relevant government authorities regarding graduation exercises.
  • DOH Guidelines. Students are encourage to follow the DOH Guidelines for preventive care which  include frequent hand-washing sanitation, observing proper cough etiquette, social distancing, avoiding unnecessary travel and mass gatherings. The University shall also be taking this time to undertake additional sanitation and disinfection of the campus, among others.  The University remains committed to the health and safety of its students and employees during this state of public health emergency.
