Master of Arts in Education major in Physical Education

Program Description

The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Education with a major in Physical Education is tailored for educators dedicated to promoting physical activity, health, and wellness among students of all ages. Through a comprehensive curriculum, students explore the role of physical activity in enhancing physical, mental, and social well-being, while emphasizing inclusive and culturally responsive teaching practices.

The program covers human movement sciences, biomechanics, exercise physiology, motor development, and motor learning, providing students with a deep understanding of how the body moves and responds to physical activity. Students learn to design safe, effective, and developmentally appropriate physical education programs, integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies, and tailor instruction to diverse learners’ needs. Graduates are prepared for roles as physical education teachers, coaches, fitness instructors, wellness coordinators, or advocates for physical activity promotion in various educational and community settings, equipped to inspire individuals and communities towards healthier lifestyles.
