Seventy (70) grade 10, 11, & 12 students from seven (7) public and private schools in Mandaluyong City participated in the 2nd Interschool Press Conference (IPC 2019) initiated by the Languages and Social Sciences Department and The Scribe to celebrate the National Reading Month and JRU’s 100th year. This year’s theme is “Campus Journalism as Advocates of Critical Thinking in the Age of Disinformation”. Two main categories for the competition wereOnline Desktop Publishing and TV Broadcasting. The first day was a plenary session with invited speakers from media such as GMA 7, ABS-CBN and CNN in the morning followed by the competition in the afternoon.
The awarding of certificates and announcement of winners came on the last day. Furthermore, the participants and school publication advisers agreed to continue to be guardians of freedom of opinion to promote truthful information in all forms of media and to be advocates of critical thinking in this age of disinformation by signing in the Resolution of Commitment.
